Business Networking Luncheon
The Embassy of the Republic of South Africa, in Jakarta hosted a Business Networking Luncheon featuring South Africa FIFA 2010 World Cup on the 19th November 2009 at the Ritz Carlton.
Participants at the luncheon included The Association of Indonesian Travel Agencies (ASITA), Official Sponsors of South Africa FIFA 2010 World Cup in Indonesia, namely: Electronic City, Hyundai Mobil Indonesia, Coca-Cola and United Arab Emirates Airlines, including the South African Airways and Distel South Africa.
The aim of the networking was to promote tourism to South Africa and to solicit support from travel agents to help market South Africa as an affordable and safe tour destination for Indonesians during and beyond the South Africa FIFA 2010 World Cup event.

Mandela Day Celebrations
The Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Jakarta commemorated Mandela day on 17 July 2009 by collaborating with the Governor of Jakarta’s Office, on the “One Million Tree Planting Project” which entailed the planting of 91 trees, signifying former president of South Africa Mr Nelson Mandela’s 91st birthday.
The 91 trees were planted across five (5) locations in Jakarta i.e. Ayodia Park 3 trees were planted at the ceremonial site. The rest of the trees were also at Lapangan Banteng Park, Kampung Sawah, Median of Jalan Jendral Sudirman and Semanngi Bridge and Median Jalan Rasuna Said.
Amongst other notable attendees were the Deputy Governor of Environmental Affairs Mr Achmad Haryadi , the deputy Mayor of South Jakarta, Mr Mangara Pardede , and Ambassadors from the Africa group and South Africans residing in Jakarta.
